About

KnowTheGST answers one question well: who is behind this number, and can I rely on them? Paste a GSTIN and you get the registration, the jurisdiction, what they sell, and — the part that actually matters — how consistently they file.

There is no account, no paywall, no export limit and no database of taxpayers sitting on this server. Every figure is fetched from a public API at the moment you search and cached for a few hours at most.

Where each field comes from

GST registration & filing history
gst.jamku.app — a free public mirror of GST portal taxpayer data. Typically synced within a day for filings.
Company master data
data.gov.in — MCA “Company Master Data”, the 31 March 2021 open-data release. It is the most recent MCA extract published as a queryable API.
Legal entity records
GLEIF — the global LEI index, free and open.
Bank branches
Razorpay IFSC
PIN codes
India Post
Validation & decoding
Computed in your browser from the published GSTIN / PAN / CIN structures. No network call.

What this site cannot do

  • Search all companies by name. India has ~2.5 million registered companies and no free API searches them by name. MCA blocks automated access; the open-data extract only does exact matches. Name search here covers the ~390,000 Indian entities that hold an LEI.
  • Show current MCA filings. The newest MCA data available as an open API is from March 2021. Anything after that has to come from mca.gov.in directly.
  • Guarantee freshness. Registration status can change hours before it appears in any mirror. For anything with money attached, confirm on the GST portal.

Where a limit exists, it is stated on the page rather than hidden. That is deliberate — a business lookup you cannot calibrate is worse than none.
